Illusion!

Grieving female demon’s of Lankā said-Celestials tormented by Rāvan (who misused boon bestowed on him) worshipped Brahmā with glowing austerities. Gratified, Brahmā said-From today onwards, all demons will be wandering 3 worlds constantly enveloped with fear. Gracious Lord Sivā said to celestials-For your benefit, a woman will be born for causing destruction of demons

This Sitā is the same, employed by celestials, will consume us along with Rāvan. There is no refuge whatsoever for us like a female elephant enveloped by wildfire. Great soul Vibhishana did right thing at opportune time, taking refuge of Rām. Female demons embraced each other afflicted by grief & wept loudly

Rāvan heard mournful cries of female demons in every house of Lankā. He sighed for a long time, reflected for a while, was very much enraged & assumed a frightful appearance. Nipping his lips with his teeth, his eyes became red blood in anger, looking like augmented fire of dissolution. Roaring, he ordered demons-Tell the army to prepare immediately for battle

Rāvan laughed heartily, said-Today I’ll send Rām & Laxman to abode of death. I’ll take vengeance for Khara, Kumbhakarna, Prahasta & Indrajit. The sky overcast by my arrows, like clouds, will not be clearly seen, neither quarters, nor seas will come to view. With a multitude of plumed arrows, I’ll kill troops of Vānaras today. With their faces transfixed with arrows, Vānaras lying on battlefield will adorn earth as lotuses with stalks. I’ll satiate crows, vultures & others who eat flesh of dead. Arrange my chariot quickly!

Hearing the command, Mahaparshva ordered army chiefs to go all over Lankā & hasten demons in all houses to set out for battle. They equipped themselves with all kind of weapons & rushed out. Rāvan ascended the chariot, shining with his own splendor & amid great noise of kettle drums & conches, proceeded to fight. A clamor was heard-Here comes demon king, abductor of Sitā, destroyer of Brahmanas, enemy of gods, notorious for his bad conduct, accompanied by his canopy & pair of whisks, to fight with Rām, foremost among Ikshavākus. Victory will be ours!

What we see as appropriate could be an absolute contrast for others. This is due to our over-emphasis on emotions in a situation, which deviates our focus & intellect in not seeing the obvious. We then live completely inside our head, dealing with the emotion & not the situation. The movie plays again & again in which we are victims & the target of our outburst is our villain. Emotions are reality for us, but physical situation is also a reality, to which we can’t close our eyes

Emotions don’t necessarily reflect reality. Krsna says

anubandhaṁ kṣayaṁ hiṁsām anapekṣya ca pauruṣam

mohād ārabhyate karma yat tat tāmasam ucyate

That action performed in illusion, in disregard of scriptural injunctions, & without concern for future bondage or for violence or distress caused to others is said to be in the mode of ignorance
