Dejection!

Enraged Jāmbavan, Sushena & Vegadarshi, ran towards demon Kumbha after Angad lay unconscious by his arrows. Kumbha released hail of arrows to stop them & they could not even see him. Sugriva then rushed forward as a swift lion would bounce upon an elephant. He uprooted many trees & hurled it on Kumbha, but the demon chopped them all with his Shataghni arrows

Sugriva leapt forward & snatched the bow of Kumbha & broke it, all at once. He said-Kumbha! You’re equally strong as your father Kumbhakarna. You’ve defeated celestials and are equal to Indrajit in archery & to Rāvan in prowess. Show your valor now to fight me but as you look tired, I’ll not kill you now, but after you’ve taken some rest

Kumbha was thus honored by those insulting words. His splendor enhanced as that of a sacrificial fire when melted butter is offered as oblation. Kumbha grasped Sugriva’s arms & both warriors rubbed one another emitting blaze. The battleground sank under trampling of their feet & waves in ocean became turbulent. Tossing Kumbha up, Sugriva threw him down into ocean to see its bottom & the waters rose to the height of mount Vindhya. Kumbha jumped up, struck Sugriva on chest with his fist, causing blood to ooze out

Sugriva’s armor was burst & his cage of bones gave a counterstrike to forceful fist. He then forcefully descended his fist on breast of Kumbha causing him to fall like an extinguished fire, dead. Seeing his brother fallen, Nikumbha grasped an iron club & hurled it on the breast of Hanumān. The titanic club fell on the wide & rock-like chest of Hanumān & was at once shattered to pieces, but he was unmoved. Son of wind god clenched his fist & struck Nikumbha on his chest

The armor of demon split open, but he carried on. He grasped the unwieldy bulk of Hanumān & lifted him up. Freeing himself Hanumān rained blows, caught his neck, twisted it around & tore off his huge ahead in one stroke, while the demon was roaring. Heavens appeared to crumble for demons & fear seized them. They ran back to Lankā & informed Rāvan who couldn't believe that Kumbhakarna’s sons were dead and left him dejected

We all face dejection in life. When things happen contrary to our expectations, despite putting best efforts, our spirits are low & we see fatality of things. But do we see reason beyond immediate? Rather than becoming disoriented & paralyzed, do we see that the same dejection should prods us to explore something beyond material which mostly consumes our consciousness?

The world externally allures us with many mundane things & our mind internally prods us to achieve them. This pressure situation makes us forget our spiritual connection with ultimate reality. When reversal strikes, we feel dejected & our life sees dead end. Instead, we should use that dejection to explore something else, something meaningful that resonates with our soul, our spirit. This will elevate us beyond material & will give meaning to life, not negativity
