Be humble & Rise!

Laxman drenched in blood, felt rejoiced on having killed Indrajit in combat as a service to Rām. He offered salutations to Jāmbavan, Hanumān & Vānar chiefs and quickly came to Rām & Sugriva. Offering obeisance, he stood besides his brother & said in murmuring low tone about Indrajit's demise. Exuberant Vibhishana came forward & said in loud tone-Tormentor Indrajit’s head has been chopped off by great souled Laxman

Hearing this Rām was overcome with immeasurable joy & said-O Laxman, well done! I feel gratified. An arduous task has been achieved. The killing of Indrajit is steppingstone to our victory. Smelling the head of Laxman, who had augmented his fame & yet was feeling shy hearing himself being praised, Rām lovingly drew him close & placed him on his lap with affection, embraced & tenderly gazed upon him

Rām said-You’ve indeed severed right hand of Rāvan & I'd like to thank Vibhishana & Hanumān too for their support. In 3 days & nights, Indrajit has fallen & now Rāvan will indeed come forth now with a powerful battle-array for revenge. By encircling him, I’ll kill him as he comes distressed after death of his son. Laxman, with you as protector, neither Sitā nor this entire earth is difficult to obtain

Rām called Sushena & requested him to attend wounded Laxman. Let all arrows piercing his body be taken out. Also take care of all others wounded in battle. As commanded, Sushena healed Laxman & all & restored to their original disposition. All felt joyful!

Meanwhile Rāvan’s counsellors hurriedly reported the matter of Indrajit’s killing to him. O King! Your majestic son has been killed by Laxman with the help of Vibhishana. He who was unbeatable in combat, who conquered Indra, has been killed now. Hearing the news, Rāvan swooned & fell unconscious as if dead

Regaining consciousness after a long time, Rāvan confounded as he was with sorrow on account of his son’s death, lamented & said-Alas! My child of extraordinary might is dead, He was death personified but is now overcome by mighty Laxman. I’m sure all celestials & sages can now sleep comfortably & peacefully. Bereft of Indrajit, this entire earth seems so lonely to me. My son! where did you go, leaving Lankā, me, your mother, your wives & all of us? You should’ve done last rites for me but now it is reverse

Multiple lessons about humility, the king of values in one’s nature. While getting recognition & reciprocation for our efforts is a natural human longing, but we often in this uncaring don’t receive it. If we are dependent on it, which is beyond our control then we disempower ourselves to execute our responsibilities

The motivation to persevere in doing our part is humility, by which we connect to self & to higher powers, and be focused on serving. There is a sublime joy in having a positive service attitude by which we make huge contribution based on merit without any dependence on externals. Rise above by lying low
