Principles to die for!🤺

Rām, with great force struck Rāvan on his chest, with arrows shining brightly like a thunderbolt. The valiant king of demons, to whom neither thunder nor lightning could cause disturbance or trembling, stumbled & his bow fell by the impact of Rām’s arrows. Another arrow shattered the bow & caused deep injury to Rāvan. Seeing him swooning, the magnanimous Rām took up a blazing arrow shaped like a crescent moon & shot it to shatter the diadem of Rāvan

As the diadem broke, Rāvan’s splendor dimmed like a venomous snake when robbed of his poison, or like a Sun when its rays extinguished, bereft of luster. Rām said to demon king-You’ve accomplished a highly terrific feat & my brave soldiers have succumbed to your blows. You look weary now & in this condition; I shall not put you under clutches of death. I know you’ve been tormented in battle, and I give you second chance. Go & return to Lankā! Once you regain your breath, come back in your chariot with your bow & then standing in your chariot, you’ll witness once more my prowess

At these words spoked by Rām, Rāvan’s joy of boasting subdued, his bow shattered together with his ego, his chariot destroyed with pierced with arrows & his diadem broken, he returned to Lankā

As mighty Rāvan, the enemy of celestials and titans, returned to Lanka, Rām arranged for drawing out arrows from Vānaras & from Laxman, in the forefront of that vast battlefield. Rāvan, the adversary of Indra, being vanquished, the celestials, Asuras, the multitude of beings in all quarters, the creatures of ocean with the great serpents, and also all beings on earth rejoiced, the fall of the tormentor

Returning to the City of Lankā, Rāvan was afflicted with the fear of Rama's arrows, his pride was humbled, and his senses troubled. The king was overcome by the high-souled Rām, like an elephant is by a lion or a serpent by an eagle. He was maddened in recollecting Rām's arrows resembling Rod of Brahmā, the Lord of creation, and possessed splendor of lightning

We also face such situation when we encounter our competitors and would retaliate with full force to decimate them, even at the cost of principles. If our fight is about the principles & not against the person, we can win the battle and the person’s heart. We sometimes forget that winning hearts is also one of the important challenges to execute as everything cannot be won by force. With his principled approach, Rām won so many hearts in the enemy camp as well & they tried their best to either make Rāvan understand his misdeeds or supporting Rām in his endeavor

This subtle aspect of our attitude, may cause loss in short term but in long term it’s a huge win

Do we act on principles or against a person? Thoughts pls? #gameoflife
