Past is not past! It's foundation for future⏩
Kumbhakarna further said to Rāvan-A king who wishes to execute an agreement as per law, understands it thro’ his own intellect as well as that of his councilors & discovers it together with his friends to ensure if he is on a right course. He does not act alone. A man resorts to virtue or worldly gain or pleasure or all 3 together or in pairs only according to the appointed time. He pursues virtue in morning, worldly gain in afternoon & sensuous pleasure at night. He who does not keep this in mind, then his extensive learning goes in vain
Whosoever deliberates with his counsellors & resorts to an act of bestowing gifts, conciliation, sowing dissension at appropriate occasion, exhibits valor or resorts to them all together or takes recourse to both right action & reverse of it, at right time, that intelligent person never confronts a misfortune in this world. A king must act for the welfare of his subjects along with his ministers, using their intelligence & understanding of the true state of things
Men with brutal ideas aspire to tell lofty things in discussions, without fully knowing the precepts of scriptures. The words spoken by such men, who do not recollect the words of scriptures dealing with practical life & who covet abundant wealth, are not to be implemented. Those men who talk with audacity, say inimical things in a friendly way, are sure to be kept out of deliberations, as they certainly spoil the work to be done. Some counsellors, colluding with some learned adversaries, spoil their king & make them do wrong deeds
King should take those ministers who have been transformed by enemy to their side (through bribery & other ways) & are enemies though looking like friends by their conduct, when final decision is being taken after deliberation. Outsiders surely find out the fickleness of a ruler, who is led away by false appearances & quickly performs acts. A king who disregards enemy & does not protect himself, indeed faces disappointing occurrences and would be removed from his position
The advice which was tendered to you earlier by Vibhishana was beneficial to us. These are my views, said Kumbha. Now do whatever you wish to do
Rāvan, hearing these words from Kumbha, twisted his eyebrows in anger & said-Why are you advising me like a venerable great teacher? What is the use of this speech? You must perform befitting the situation now. Wise men do not repent over the past. Past is indeed but the past
What gem of words are spoken by Kumbha applicable to all of us in our day to day lives. People in position of power and Managers have an added responsibility of being very careful as lot depends upon their decision. Elements like active listening, virtuous approach, timely action, assessing situation, cultivating team, identifying intent, deliberation are extremely important
People who say past is past & don’t learn, make excuses for their weak mind to do what they want
Thoughts pls? #gameoflife
