Hearing words from mighty Kumbhakarna to Rāvan, demon Mahodara said to him-You're audacious, arrogant & don't know what is right. It is not that our King doesn't know about prudent & imprudent conducts & it is childish of you to advise him. He knows about apportioning of place & time, understands relationships as well his position & that of others. A wise man always serves his elders


Action alone is a means to get all consequences. Even sinful acts spring up into a fruit of prosperity. Living beings reap fruit of good actions in this & in other worlds. But one who is diligently devoted to actions with a view to attain sensuous pleasure enjoys blessings even in this life. This act to pursue sensuous pleasure cherished by our king, was thus approved by us. What violation is there in this daring act against enemy? I don’t see Rāvan has done any wrong


Also you marching all alone to encounter Rām, I believe isn't a good idea. You can't conquer single handedly Rām by whom 14000 demons were destroyed at Janasthan earlier. He is like an enraged lion, forever shining with splendor & unbearable as death. You should thus not go alone but with an army


Mahodara then said to Rāvan in madness-Why're you delaying further after capturing Sitā already? If you so wish, she'll be submissive to you. I've a strategy to bring her to submission. Announce that myself, Dvijihva, Samhraadi, Kumbhakarna & Vitardana are setting out for battle to kill Rām. If we conquer our enemy then no other scheme is required & she is all yours, but if our enemy survives then implement what I'm saying


We'll pierce ourselves with arrows bearing name of Rām. With blood streaming from our wounds, we’ll come back shouting with joy that we've eaten up Rām. This news should be proclaimed all over Lankā that Rām Laxman & Vānar generals are no more. You then make lavish gifts to all showing your delight. As news will reach Sitā, you go to her & ask her to place her affection now for you & accede to your wishes. Present her ornaments & wealth of all kind. This will bring fear & grief in heart of Sitā. With the loss of her husband, she’ll have no one to help & will take refuge in you


Women have innate tendency to be unsteady & hence Sitā will place herself at your disposal. Listening that Sitā is now with you, Rām will die & so will Laxman. This is my plan!


What a mockery one’s own mind makes when faced with challenges. It distorts perspective of things showing only one aspect of reality & make us believe that we are seeing the whole reality. In such situations, we deceive others, but we are actually self-deceived. In place of using intelligence to consciously explain the situation which is unacceptable, our mind makes us believe in devious plans and tries to rationalize it


In such scenario instead of being misled, we need someone trustworthy who can rescue us. No wonder such persons are spiritually elevated above the material platform

  Make or break!   When Salya agreed to drive Karna’s chariot only on condition that he must be allowed to speak freely whatever he likes, Duryodhana and Karna readily agreed & thus a contract was made. Duryodhana flattered Salya by comparing him to Lord Brahmā, who formerly became Shiva’s charioteer at the time of destroying Tripura   Duryodhana concluded his long talk by saying: Dear Salya, Parasurāma delivered the entire science of weapons to Karna. Grudge-The heaviest thing to hold! Asvattāma hurriedly yoked horses to his chariot & set out, as Krpa & Krtvarma anxiously followed him. He soon arrived at Pāndava camp & saw a gigantic being with enormous head with flames emanating from his eyes, nose, ear & mouth   Asvattāma fearlessly attacked that awesome being with his celestial weapons but failed in all his attempt. He thought to himself: Krpa had warned me that persons who don’t listen to their elders must lament later. The frustration of my attempt must be due to its inherently sinful nature.
