Maturity

As Rāvan delivered violent blow on the chest of Hanumān with his palm, he reeled backwards repeatedly. But illustrious Hanumān secured his balance within a moment & struck Rāvan with his palm. By the violent impact of blow, Rāvan shook like a mountain when earth trembles, but regained his breath & said-Well done O Vānar! You’re adversary worthy of praise by your valor. Hanumān said-Why boasting? Come strike me once & my fist is about to dispatch you to the abode of Yama

Rāvan enraged, eyes red with fury, whirled his fist & knocked on Hanumān’s chest violently, causing him to reel once again. Seeing him exhausted, Rāvan engaged with Nila & shot arrows in his vital parts, who in turn hurled a great rock at him. Rāvan broke the rock into bits. Nila then attacked with Aswakrna & Sala trees but they were shattered by hail of arrows. Nila then assumed a diminutive form & leapt to the top of flag post on Rāvan’s chariot. He then sometimes leapt on the tip of his bow & then on his diadem

Seeing the agility of Nila, Rāvan seized a marvelous arrow, the weapon of fire. He shot the arrow & said-Do save your life if you can? Even if would lose this mystic missile but it’ll severe your life. It struck Nila on his chest & being burnt all over, he fell on ground. But by virtue of the powerful aid of his father, the Sun god & his own vigor, he wasn’t deprived of his life. Seeing Nila unconscious, Rāvan eager for a fight, turned his chariot towards Laxman. He came to the center of battlefield, prevented Laxman to go forward & lifted his bow

Laxman said-Rāvan, cease from fighting Vānaras, fight me now. By good fortune you’ve come in my range of sight, now prepare yourself to die, said Rāvan. Don’t boast but shoot your arrows & Rāvan released marvelous plumed arrows which was shattered by Laxman with his golden shafts. Rāvan got angry & released other sharp arrows but Laxman broke all-Khura, Ardhachandra, Karni & Bhalla. Rāvan was astonished at Laxman’s skills, who then shot blazing effulgent arrows to strike him down

Rāvan struck Laxman in forehead with shaft bestowed on him by Brahma. Laxman reeled a little but swiftly coming to his consciousness shattered Rāvan’s weapon. He seized a spear & hurled with strength. Laxman struck it with arrows, but it pierced his broad chest & he lay on earth breathing fire. Rāvan rushed & seized him brutally but he could not raise Laxman & bear him away

Seeing this, enraged Hanumān, rushed & hit Rāvan’s chest with his fist like a thunderbolt. Rāvan fell on his knees & blood oozed out of his face, eyes & ears. He sat motionless in the middle of the chariot

Our abilities must be balanced with maturity. This maturity comes not with the external power we have but with the inner strength. Our spiritual elevation helps in making us mature to handle our skills & use them properly. Dovetailing our consciousness to serve the Supreme Lord makes us wise to handle any situation with confidence
