Seeing Prahasta setting out with martial ardor, Rām smilingly spoke to Vibhishana-Who is this warrior with a huge body, coming with great speed, along with a large army? Tell me about it. Vibhishana replied-Guarded by 2/3rd of Lankā army, full of valor & prowess and skilled in use of mystic weapons, this demon is Prahasta, the army general of Rāvan

The huge & powerful Vānar army, who emitted cries of defiance saw terrible Prahasta coming. Swords, lances, clubs, maces, axes & different bows glittered in hands of demons, running towards them, seeking victory. Vānaras took hold of trees, rocks & lofty stones to attack. A great battle ensued between the combatants, showering hail of arrows & stones on each other. Some Vānaras were smashed by spears, some by iron bars & others were slit by axes. Cut into two with strokes of sword by demons, some fell trembling on earth with their sides torn open

Flocks of demons were also crushed with rocks by furious Vānaras, who also administered thundering slaps & terrific blows with their fists lacerating eyes & faces of demons. Cries of pain & leonine roars bellowed. All the 4 associates of Prahasta were one by one killed by Dvivida, Durmukha, Jāmbavan & Tara, but Prahasta caused havoc among the Vānaras. He was hard to be subdued & full of anger, he shot avalanche of arrows causing the huge ground to be covered with corpses

Nila saw Prahasta swiftly annihilating his army. He ran towards him with great speed but fell on ground after being pierced with arrows resembling furious snakes. Nila then uprooted a tree & thumped it on descending Prahasta. Being unable to restrain the series of arrows hurled at him, Nila received them with closed eyes. Enraged over volley of darts, Nila killed Prahasta’s horses by hurling a huge Sala tree on them & quickly broke the bow of Prahasta. Deprived of bow, Prahasta seized a mace & leapt down from chariot

The 2 warriors tore into each other. Prahasta struck Nila with a mace & blood oozed out from his forehead. Nila struck a huge tree on demon’s chest in fury. Ignoring the blow, Prahasta ran towards Nila with a huge mace only to be hit with a huge rock which broke his head into myriad pieces. Disfigured & bereft of his senses, Prahasta fell on ground like a tree cut from root

No matter how big your opponent is, if your effort is colored by the spirit of service, then the inner strength makes you strong to face any challenge. Rām stood by what is right & against all odds with no weaponry & facilities, inspired Vānaras to do the impossible of decimating such powerful demons, who had defeated celestials too. Truth always prevails & the victory of good over evil is inevitable, so we don’t have to lose hope but have faith

Our seed of faith always fructifies into a tree with fruits of success against all odds. We just need to water it, hold on against the storm & see it growing full
