Rām further said to Sugriva-By acting alone to fight Rāvan is not advisable. Your longing for daring acts has resulted in wrong & reckless act & has caused me, this army & Vibhishana great anxiety. O vanquisher of foes! Don’t act thus in future. It is my predetermined resolve that having killed Rāvan in fight with his sons, I would install Vibhishana as king of Lankā & placing the kingdom of Ayodhya in the hands of Bharata, would renounce my life. Don’t jeopardize the plan


Hearing Rām’s words, Sugriva said-Seeing Rāvan who had taken away your Sitā and being conscious of my own strength how can I act otherwise? I could not stop myself. Rām then complimented Sugriva & said to Laxman-Let us divide the multitude of troops in a battle array & remain alert. I foresee a terrible calamity to come, boding universal destruction & death of intrepid Vānaras, bears & demons. Harsh winds are blowing, sinister clouds roar violently & Sun is blazing harshly. Crows, eagles & vultures are whirling round at a lower level and jackals too are howling inauspicious sounds


Let us make an attack on the invincible citadel ruled by Rāvan quickly & swiftly. Thus, speaking to Laxman, the heroic Rām climbed down from Suvela mountain peak and reviewed the army. He commanded the army to advance and marched in front, wielding a bow. All the army generals accompanied him & reached the gates of Lankā within no time


The Vānaras encouraged by the sound of Rām’s voice & obedient to his command, halted before the city of Lankā, which was garlanded with banners & flags. Reaching the northern gates, Rām saw various types & multitude of weapons carried by demon warriors. Nila together with Mainda & Dvivida reached & halted before the eastern gates. Angad & his entourage took charge of the southern gates. Hanumān with other warriors guarded the western gate. Sugriva with other Vānar chiefs took charge of center fort


36 crore Vānaras accompanied Sugriva & a crore each were distributed at each of the gates. Sushena with Jambāvan & others stood at the intermediate post. The lions among the Vānaras, possessing teeth of tigers, taking hold of trees & rocks waited delightedly for the signal to fight. They lashed their tales feverishly trembling in every limb


Even winds were unable to penetrate Lankā being surrounded by sea of Vānaras & bears. The demons seeing themselves besieged as by clouds were struck with sudden terror  


A sound plan, a disciplined approach & perfect execution makes one’s strength multifold. When we deal with competitors, their strength needs to be analyzed for sure and accordingly plan to be formalized but determined efforts should be made to fine tune & focus on our preparation, planning, disciplined approach & flawless execution. This alone drills fear & makes an impact

Grudge-The heaviest thing to hold! Asvattāma hurriedly yoked horses to his chariot & set out, as Krpa & Krtvarma anxiously followed him. He soon arrived at Pāndava camp & saw a gigantic being with enormous head with flames emanating from his eyes, nose, ear & mouth   Asvattāma fearlessly attacked that awesome being with his celestial weapons but failed in all his attempt.
