4 defects!

Vibhishana consoled Sugriva, who was distraught seeing Rām Laxman unconscious, said-This is not the time to cling to despondency. Abandon your despair, which ruins all actions & focus on how best you can serve the troops who need you now. We need to protect Rām till he regains consciousness & once they come back, they’ll drive away fear of all of us. Nothing will happen to Rām, take my words

The Vānaras are terrified & I request you to cast off their fear & activate them. Having thus emboldened Sugriva, Vibhishana reassured Vānara army, who were retreating from the front lines. All then surrounded Rām Laxman to watch & protect them

Meanwhile, Indrajit entered Lankā & approached Rāvan, saluting him with joined palms. He informed his father that both Rām & Laxman have been slain. The demon king sprang on his feet in joy, embraced his son & smelled his head. He asked details of what happened & Indrajit explained how both brothers were made motionless & entwined by his arrows

Rāvan then dismissed his son Indrajit & summoned she-demons who guarded Sitā. They appeared quickly along with Trijatā. Rāvan said-tell Sitā that Rām Laxman have been killed by Indrajit. Take her in my Pushpaka Vimān & show them killed in battlefield. Her husband, depending on whom she was so proud as to refuse my proposal, lies there killed. From now on, she would be free from anxiety, grief & expectation of reunion with Rām & would submit herself to me. Hearing these words, they replied-So be it!

She-demons took aerial chariot to Sitā in Ashoka grove. They made her ascend Pushpaka plane & proceeded to show Rām Laxman slain in battle. Sitā along with Trijatā, transported by plane over battlefield saw all Vānaras troops who had been slain. She saw demons who were delighted & Vānaras disturbed with grief standing around Rām & Laxman. She saw them lying unconscious on ground on a bed of arrows, their limbs pierced with arrows, armor shattered, bows cast aside at a distance & entire body transfixed with darts

Seeing the wretched plight of the 2 warriors, Sitā wailed piteously struck with great agony. Seeing them lying in dust, she burst into sobs & believed their death. She said-I’ve been told by soothsayers that I’ll never be widowed but their words have proved to be untrue. All the astrologer’s words that I’ll remain happy with my husband proves to be falsehood. All the auspicious sign on my foot appears void for me

The conditioned souls have four defects-They are sure to commit mistakes, be invariably illusioned, has tendency to cheat others, limited by imperfect senses. With these 4 imperfections, we believe what is false & not believe truth, we are bewildered by genuine & enlightened by deception

One who has scriptural knowledge & is surrendered to the Supreme Lord identifies these faults & takes actions accordingly. Huge implications in the way we perceive ourselves, our decisions & our perceptions in personal or professional lives
