😨Fear😱
Healed of their wounds, Rām & Laxman seized their bows & made a tumultuous twang, which struck terror in demons. The twang drowned cries of demons & Vānaras and pervaded all 10 quarters. By one arrow released from Rām’s bow, towering main gate of Lankā was shattered & it tumbled down. Sugriva then ordered assault by Vānar army by entering thro’ the nearest gate
Seeing Vānar chiefs with flaming torches standing at the gate, Rāvan was enraged. He ordered Kumbha & Nikumbha, sons of Kumbhakarna to safeguard city. Demons Yupaksha, Shonitaksha, Prajangha & Kampana joined too. Incited by Rāvan, valiant demons wielding shining weapons ran forth from Lankā. In the night, effulgence of moon together with splendor of ornaments worn by demons & flames of half-scorched mansions of the city produced glitter all over
Large army of demons sprang forward with speed as moths are attracted towards flame. Vānaras struck them with rocks, trees & fists & jumped in frenzy. Demons shot arrows & rained other weapons. As terrific war ensued, Angad attacked Kampana, but the demon hit him with a mace, reeling him back. Angad hurled a boulder in response, causing the demon to fall dead. Seeing it, Shonitaksha rushed forward & shot lethal arrows on Angad, but he was slashed by a sword into pieces
As remaining demons moved forward to attack Angad, Mainda & Dvivida also took positions. A great battle causing hair to stand at end was waged. Angad with a swift strike of his fist shattered Prajangha’s head & Mainda struck Yupaksha on his chest taking life air out of him
Kumbha seeing demon army running away with fear, released serpentine arrows towards Vānaras, which can split open bodies. He struck Dvivida, who swayed after its impact & fell down throbbing. Seeing his brother hit, Mainda took a large rock & attacked Kumbha but was also hit by arrows & fell. Angad despite been pierced with many arrows, uprooted a huge Sāla tree to hit Kumbha, but he survived. Angad hit by multiple arrows then fell down swooning. There was silence in Vānar camp and few rushed to Rām for help
Rām assessed the situation & sent Jāmbavan together with Sugriva & other Vānar chiefs to tackle Kumbha. It would be a fight to remember
Lot of people rely on them being brave in adversity and think by doing this they would be winners (Darr ke aage Jeet hai). Bravery is an important element to come out of fear but what is more important is the purpose of our efforts. To be free from fear is not always desirable. Fear is often a necessary indicator of danger & it protects us from being irresponsible. It pushes us to think, analyze & careful of our actions. But when fear dominates & paralyzes us, it needs to be overcome
But how can we do that? By connecting to a purpose higher than what we are fearful of.This has huge implication in our lives as it prevents us from being foolhardy
