Adding fuel to fire!

Hearing words of Vibhishana, Indrajit was enraged & rushed forward. He resembled Yama at the time of dissolution of world, sitting on a huge chariot yoked with black horses, having upraised swords & weapons. He held an enormous, strong & swift bow & held arrows capable of tormenting enemies

Indrajit saw Laxman, embellished with splendor, sitting on Hanumān’s back & said-You behold my prowess now! Face an unconquerable stream of arrows which’ll destroy you like fire consumes a pile of cotton. Who can stand before me when I attack? You were made unconscious by me & fell to floor in the past, don’t you remember that? I presume you want to die now

Laxman retorted-O demon! He alone is clever who does & achieves what he says in practice. Your proclamations will not work & it shows your lack of capacity. The path you took that day, to become invisible to attack us, is one which is trodden by thieves, but not one who is valiant. Show your prowess today instead of bragging

Indrajit reached his terrific bow, shot sharp arrows deadly as venomous serpents on Laxman. Glorious Laxman drenched in blood shone like smokeless flame. Indrajit seeing this, emitted a loud roar & said-Let several jackals, multitude of hawks & vultures descend upon you as you’re soon dead. My father will witness both you & Rām killed by me. Laxman replied-Don’t give speech, let’s fight to finish. I’ll not brag but will do justice of being a Kshatriya

Laxman then stretched 5 steel arrows & dug them into demon’s chest at great speed. Indrajit countered & fierce fight ensued which was most terrific & tumultuous. Both warriors were strong, peerless in strength & courage, distinguished in prowess & difficult to overcome in battle & fought like lions

Hearing twang of Laxman’s bow, Indrajit face turned pale. Seeing this Vibhishana said-I infer that Indrajit is now bit disappointed. Laxman, make haste to shoot him with your full power. Hit by Laxman’s arrows, Indrajit was stupefied for a moment but recovered. He shot Laxman with 7, Hanumān with 10 excellent arrows & injured Vibhishana with 100 arrows simultaneously

Enraged, Laxman shot a golden arrow which broke Indrajit’s armor into pieces and he slipped on his chariot. Recovering, he shot 1000 arrows & broke open Laxman’s armor. Both warrior’s bodies were lacerated & blood oozed out like a fountain. They displayed terrific missiles & neither turned their back nor experienced any fatigue. This was fight of the Titans!

One can be very talented & feel they can do whatever they decide. Even if they can, their actions bloat their ego, thereby disrupting their own quest. When one is driven by desire to show off, their pride makes them dependent on others to get praised, which becomes like an insatiable fire. Praise acts like fuel that causes pride-fire to blaze even more & torment them with dissatisfaction even more. They end up not being able to do anything as they should, justifying their talent
