Lord’s mercy Mandodari seeing Rāvan lying dead on battlefield, said-In the past by performing great penance you conquered the senses & won 3 worlds. But now as if in revenge, those very senses conquered you. You didn’t heed to my advice for not having any hostility with Rām & the evil result of that is in front of us For the annihilation of your power, your body & your people, you conceived desire for Sitā suddenly. O foolish one! An unworthy act was indeed done by you, in offending Sitā, who is more distinguished & respectable than Arundhati (wife of Sage Vashishtha) & Rohini (principal spouse of moon god) Sitā is the model of forbearance even to Goddess Earth & a model of grace to Laxmi, goddess of fortune & charm. She is extremely fond of her husband. By a recourse to a fraud in bringing that Sitā in a lonely forest, faultless in every limb as she was, charming though miserable & having failed to fulfill your desire for union with Sitā due to yo...

🔻 Rāvan consorts wept pitifully & said-If you’d have restored Sitā to Rām, Vibhishana would have had his desire fulfilled, Rām would have been our ally, we would have been spared of the curse of widowhood & our enemies wouldn’t have realized their ambition. When you forcefully captivated Sitā, we were doomed the same day O King! You acted per your free will, but that only may not be the reason for your destruction. Everything is being run by divine powers & so this also is an act of providence. The course of destiny, when ready to bear fruit, cannot be diverted either by money or wish or valor or even by a command in this world While they wept, Mandodari, the senior most & beloved wife of Rāvan, feeling miserable, stared at her husband killed by Rām of unimaginable exploits. She said-O great armed! Brother of Kubera, even Indra does not dare to stand before you when you were enraged. Because of fear from you, illustrious Gandharvas & wandering bards fled in a...

Why we? Seeing Rāvan killed by great souled Rām, female demons (consorts of Rāvan), stricken with grief, rushed out of gynaecium (Antahpura) of their palaces. Even though impeded every now & then by their maid servants, they rolled in dust of Lankā streets & were tormented like cows that had lost their calf. They came out of northern gate of Lankā & rushed onto terrific battlefield, searching for their husband, who had been killed crying-O my Lord!. They ran hither thither on the ground covered with headless trunks & rendered muddy with blood Those women had their eyes filled with tears & lamented loudly like female elephants who had lost the leader of the herd. They saw gigantic Rāvan, who was endowed with great strength & invested with great splendor, lying killed on the ground. Seeing their husband lying in dust, they fell on their limbs like uprooted wild creepers. One woman wept & embraced him, other clung to his feet & another caught hold of ...

Kshama(forgiveness) Rām said to Vibhishana-There is no occasion to grieve for Rāvan for he has fallen to death in the battlefield. Don’t grieve for him, who is now brought under the sway of death, but was intelligent & all the three worlds including Indra were frightened of him In the past, none has ever been exclusively victorious in a combat. A hero either has been killed by his adversaries or had killed the enemies in battle. Such destiny as proclaimed by the ancients, is highly esteemed for a warrior. A warrior killed in battle, does not deserve to be mourned as per the ascertainment of the sacred scriptures. Therefore, understanding the true principle, be free from grief & think of what duty deserves to be performed by you To that valiant prince Rām, by whom the aforesaid words were spoken, Vibhishana, who was tormented with grief, spoke about the suitable action to be done next in relation to his brother- O Rām! The demon, who had never been conquered before in batt...

Sin or Sinner! Seeing his brother Rāvan lying dead after defeat in battle, Vibhishana lamented with his mind filled with sorrow. He said-Why are you lying on ground though you’re worthy of lofty beds. O valiant hero! celebrated & prudent in polity, why your long arms decked in armlets are now motionless & your diadem, which is brilliant as Sun, is knocked down? O Brother! That which I told you earlier & which was not liked by you, has come true. As you were overcome with sensuality & infatuation, that very fate has been obtained by you. Why did you not listen? Because of arrogance, neither Prahasta nor Indrajit & others nor Kumbhkarna, nor Atiratha nor you yourself agreed to my counsel, the consequence of which we can see now. The hero, foremost among those who wield weapons has fallen on the ground, the epitome of strength is gone, the refuge of eulogies has gone out of sight, the Sun has fallen, the moon has merged in darkness, the fire has extinguished its ...
