Forced!

Lord Siva assumed form of a huge Kirāta hunter. Picking his bow & arrows, he went to where Arjun was performing austerities, with Umā, who was disguised as Kirāta woman, & numerous other associates taking similar forms. Because of Lord’s presence entire forest took a beautiful aspect & silence prevailed as all birds, animals & streams became quiet

As Lord came to Arjun, he saw that a demon named Muka had assumed form of a boar & was stealthily approaching Arjun to kill him. When Arjun saw the fierce boar, he quickly strung his bow & said-I’ve no intention to harm anyone but if you want to kill me, I’ll send you to Yamrāj’s abode. But Lord Sivā in the form of Kirāta forbade Arjun saying: You can’t kill this boar as I aimed at it first

Arjun ignored the hunter & both released their fiery arrows simultaneously piercing the boar. While giving up his life, boar assumed his real form of a terrible demon. Arjun saw that Kirāta had effulgent golden form, appearing like a demigod. He said-Who’re you? Why’ve you come to this lonely forest & pierce the boar that was first aimed by me? Because you’ve impudently disregarded etiquette of hunting. I’ll not allow you to leave with your life

The Kirāta smiled & said-We’re accustomed to living in forest so don’t be surprised to see me here. On the contrary you’re brought up in royal luxury, so for what purpose you've come here? It was me & not you that struck demon with arrow & killed him. It was me who first took aim & because you’re overly proud of your strength, you’ve foolishly imputed your fault to others. It is you acting against hunting code & I shall not let you escape with your life

Arjun became enraged & attacked Kirāta with arrows. The hunter remained undisturbed & said-Why don’t you discharge arrows capable of piercing me? As fierce fight ensued, Arjun realized that hunter was least disturbed with his perfect shower of arrows. He thought with astonishment if the hunter could be Lord Siva himself. Except for Rudra, none can bear onslaught of my arrows. But whosoever it may be, I’ll soon send him to Yamarāj's abode

Thinking thus, Arjun again showered his arrows as his adversary cheerfully bore them. He was soon shocked to find that his arrows suddenly became exhausted. Alarmed, he invoked Agni, who had given him exhaustible quivers

We are sometimes so much caught in the momentum of our thoughts that despite seeing that situation is developing opposite to our expectations, we still carry on. Our mind plays spoilsport, forcing us to believe that it could be that I’ve not done my best & let’s try one more time. Despite seeing the obvious, contrary to expectations, it shows its foolhardiness by not believing truth & recalibrate

Our minds obstinacy in not to accept & learn plays a big part in boosting the false ego to a point that inflated balloon soon explodes. If our intelligence dovetailed to spiritual tenets, is not in control of our mind & senses, it plays havoc
